The impact of being transgender on someone’s mental well being
Some people realize at an early age of their lives start to feel that that there is something wrong with their bodies and that they dont match with the way they feel inside about themselves
Growing up this feeling becomes more relevant especially when society starts to treat these people based on the binary conventions and their physical appearance which creates some psychological problems such as depression anxiety and sometimes it leads even to suicidal thoughts
Tunisian society and the trans community : between rejection and ignorance
The trans community lives under a huge oppression in Tunisia due to the arrogance of people about sexual and gender topics considering the latter a taboo.
Trans people while growing up they go through difficult periods of times where they don’t understand themselves, they feel confused, misunderstood, they tend to be alone and disconnected from others because they usually end up hurt and mistreated from the society
Besides all the suffering they go through especially living in such conservative societies they are also rejected and disowned from their families and friends they end up in the streets persecuted from the police
It is never easy for a trans person in Tunisia to face their families and tell them about how they really feel about their gender identity because they are not accepted or treated as human beings . still to this day the majority thinks that trans people are against trasitions and social conventions this another reason for trans people not to come out and live in fear
